Lauren Cubellis, MS, RDN, LD

Cofounder | CEO | Dietitian


Since 2014, Lauren has been coaching individuals of all ages and varying athletic abilities. With a diverse background in many areas of fitness including bodybuilding, CrossFit, powerlifting, and Olympic weightlifting - Lauren loves to incorporate variety into Verve's programs.

Lauren is also a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and Master's graduate of The Ohio State University. As a RDN, Lauren strives to rid the fitness industry of harmful fad-diet trends, and to promote science-backed and sustainable nutrition methods that support long-term health and well-being.

Joe Lasko, CSCS

Strength Coach


Joe received his degree in exercise physiology from James Madison while interning  for 3 years with the strength & conditioning staff. After graduating, he came to Columbus, Ohio for mentorship under Louie Simmons of Westside Barbell, where he managed volume statistics on some of the strongest men and women in the world. Joe spent more than a decade at Westside Barbell helping to develop countless professional athletes, tactical operators, and coaches to better apply the Westside Conjugate training system.

Additionally, Joe has assisted in preparing various podium-placing individuals and teams for the CrossFit Games. He has traveled on behalf of both CrossFit and Westside Barbell to deliver seminars, as well as consult for various sports organizations and athletes.

At the close of the 2010’s, Joe got the opportunity to work for the Department of Defense, taking part in a specialty project which embraced his knowledge of absolute strength. Soon after coming aboard, he was promoted to Head Strength and Conditioning Coach on Fort Knox. Currently, Joe trains multiple pro and semi-pro athletes, CrossFit Games individuals, and mentors coaches and athletes in here Columbus.

Tyler Watling 

Coach | Trainer


Tyler received his Personal Training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine in 2021. He graduated from the University of Akron in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He moved to Columbus from Cleveland in 2019 where he now works as the Engineering Manager for a local HVAC company. However, he recently decided to pursue his PT certification so he could follow his passion for health and wellness.

Tyler is driven to continually learn more about the industry and science of fitness. He is looking forward to sharing that knowledge with others in hopes to improve their own understanding of the field, as well as the application of it into their lives long-term. In his free time, Tyler stays active by playing golf and basketball, hiking, and watching sports.

Kelly McKinnon, MS, RD, CSSD, LD

Coach | Trainer


Kelly is a personal trainer, CrossFit Level 1 trainer, and sports dietitian. She is passionate about educating and empowering individuals so that they feel confident in their own abilities. She specializes in implementing nutrition strategies for optimizing performance, body composition changes, and improving overall health, all while making sustainable lifestyle changes. She believes that with hard work, determination, and consistency, there are no limits to what you can achieve!

Some of her favorite movements to coach are the clean and jerk, the snatch, and any gymnastic-based movements such as pull ups or handstands. In her spare time, you'll most likely find her lifting heavy things, competing in the sport of CrossFit, and eating all the yummy carbs!

Roo Cotter

Coach


After working for several years as a personal trainer and gym manager, Roo is excited to be expanding her involvement within the health and wellness space by stepping into a coaching role for the Verve community. 

Roo grew up playing multiple sports, but fell in love with pre-season lifting and conditioning which eventually led to her desire to teach similar classes throughout college. Overtime, Roo's passion led her to earn her StrongFirst Level 1 and Level 2 Kettlebell certifications, as well as completing her 200-hour yoga certification. In addition to expanding her knowledge professionally, Roo has also completed several half-marathons and triathalons. Her vast and varied experiences support her belief that intertwining training modalities creates the best foundation for better movement and longevitiy.
