This 12-week program will be designed for you to slowly learn and progress these movements, as well as incorporate other compound (back squat, front squat, and strict press) and auxiliary exercises to translate to better positions and muscular recruitment in the snatch and clean & jerk. Olympic weightlifting is a constant process of learning and re-learning, as these movements are very technical and require time and patience to progress, which is why each session will continue to build on the previous sessions.
Training the Olympic lifts has been a staple in many sports programs, CrossFit, and other strength-based sports because of its ability to increase power and force development, build strength & muscle, and decrease injury rates. But Olympic lifting isn’t just for athletes – it can be a great addition to any training program!
We know how intimidating these lifts can be if you’ve never had the chance to properly learn them, which is why this program is the perfect time to do so. Remember this motto: “Weightlifting is fun!”, as this will be a common theme throughout the whole program as you learn and challenge yourself on how to perform a snatch and clean and jerk with proper technique.
